Thoughts on a Sunday

"Liturgy('s)...sublime lack of concern for our personal moods is a forcible reminder that when we come to God, it is not to force our moods or our interests on to him, but to receive his interests and to let him, in a sense, share his mood with us..."

(from Magnificat Meditation of the Day from Fri, Nov. 19th)

This meditation follows the Gospel reading from the day, where Jesus drives out the sellers and merchants in the Temple. And it is a good reminder that coming to God (and His Church) is coming to something much bigger than (and very much outside) ourselves. Yes, it is important to cast our worries and thoughts on God, but more importantly, it is important to come to Mass with open hearts and minds to hear God's Word and what his message is to us.

I went to early Mass at St. Paul's this morning, and it was neat to celebrate the end of the Liturgical Year in preparation for the beginning of Advent next week - wow, is it that time already? An added bonus was that there was a choir at Mass today, and that made me happy.

After Mass, I came home, ate breakfast, and now my plan is to enjoy my coffee while lesson planning for the next 1.5 days of school (Yay!) before going to a planning meeting at the Newman Center to share with them about ACE Advocates and how they can get involved in helping local Catholic schools.

And then, we shall see what the rest of the day brings...
