He held up a silly band, stretched it out, and asked what shape it was. Many students guessed, but, clearly, it was impossible to actually tell. Then, he let it take its form, which was, in fact, a mermaid. :) He then proceeded to do it another time. While the concept was rather deep for the younger students to comprehend (Fr.Drew even admitted this later), he focused on how the silly bands always return to their shape after being stretched out. In that same way, vocations shape our lives, and we return to our "shape" even after the busyness and demands of daily living stress and stretch us out. (There was more to it than that, but I probably can't do it justice. However, I think some of the kids got the 'take-away'.)
It's nice to be reassured we have a framework in life for which to aim and for which to return...
"Many people mistake our work for our vocation. Our vocation is the love of Jesus."
