Happiness

“Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.”
- Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-1864); writer

Happiness was found in simple things today:

1) Unexpected flowers of gratitude from a student's parents (see above)
2) Announcement that 4th grade won the most laps run at the jog-a-thon (woo hoo!)
3) Gratitude (sit-down) luncheon in the teachers' lounge (yum)
4) ACE Advocates February newsletter in my inbox
5) Kelsey surprisingly coming into town (apparently couldn't make it to Chicago for the weekend)
6) Cooler weather in the forecast (for running tomorrow morning)
7) Lesson plans done (pretty much) for next week
8) A few good laughs at student drama practice this afternoon
9) Skiing "booked" for next weekend
10) Superbowl party planned for Sunday

Yes, happiness comes when you're open and ready to accept it. So, open those arms (and hearts)...
